McGrain, 33, currently represents Lansing’s east side and a portion of Lansing Township on the Board of Commissioners. He is serving as chair of the Board’s Human Services committee and is a member of the County Services committee. “I am grateful to the voters of Ingham County’s 3rd District for selecting me in 2008 as their representative on the County Commission,” McGrain said. “In this time of shrinking budgets, I will continue to work to protect our neighbors and ensure my constituents receive the best possible value for their tax dollars.” McGrain, who owns a home on Lansing’s east side and is a fourth-generation graduate of Michigan State University, has built his career strengthening communities, working directly with grassroots organizations and fostering a new generation of leaders. He also is a past president of Grand River Connection, the Lansing region’s young professionals networking group. He has a bachelor’s degree in urban and regional planning and a master’s degree in public administration and urban studies, both from Michigan State University. He also is a member of the Lansing Zoning Board of Appeals, representing the city’s 1st Ward. In the past, he has received endorsements from the United Auto Workers – Region 1-C and the Lansing Labor Council, as well as a very positive ranking from the Lansing Association for Human Rights. “I am thankful to have had the opportunity to serve on the County Commission, and I look forward to the continued challenge of representing my community in the coming years,” McGrain said. A re-election campaign kick-off event is planned from 5:30–7 p.m. Monday, March 29, at the Nuthouse, 420 E. Michigan Ave. A donation of $50 is suggested. ### | ||
